Product Catalog: discover this new feature in Foreign Trade!

The New Import Process (NPI) is already transforming the foreign trade scenario in Brazil, and with it comes a new feature that promises to increase efficiency and transparency: the Product Catalog. Do you know what it is?

What is the Product Catalog?

The Product Catalog is a digital tool that centralizes detailed information about products imported by companies, in addition to integrating export processes in the future. Its main innovation is the use of attributes, which is specific data that helps describe and classify each product accurately.

These attributes follow a structured format and are linked to each code of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM). This allows for greater consistency in product descriptions and makes the process more agile and efficient.

Why is the Product Catalog important?

The Product Catalog is mandatory to use both the DUIMP like LPCO. It is not an importer's option. In this sense, the implementation of the Product Catalog brings significant benefits to companies and regulatory bodies:

  1. Classification accuracy: Pre-organizing the information in the catalog avoids errors and speeds up registration with DUIMP.
  2. Simplified compliance: The module centralizes information, ensuring that all foreign trade stakeholders have access to standardized and reliable data.
  3. Transparency and control: Centralization facilitates customs inspection and control, promoting safer operations that are aligned with legal requirements.

Furthermore, the Catalog will also be integrated with the LPCO module (Licenses, Permits, Certificates and Other Documents), which will replace traditional import licenses, ensuring more efficient management.

To use the Product Catalog, companies need to:

  • Review the tariff classification of your import base.
  • Identify and apply the correct attributes to each product.
  • Adopt systemic solutions to deal with the large volume of information efficiently.
